A pod of 9 KILLER WHALES were off Noss early this morning, heading south. They were later seen off Fladdabister (south Mainland) at about 5.30pm.

A pod of 6 KILLER WHALES were reported from the Bluemull ‘triangle’ by the Fetlar ferry crew, who believed it to be the same pod they saw in March.

A pod of 6 KILLER WHALES were seen from the Fetlar ferry.

A PORPOISE has stranded at Levenwick. The animal was fresh but apparently in poor condition (emaciated). Approx. length 1.06 m. Judging by the size the animal it was one of last years calves.

Donny Nicolson reported a dead LEATHERY TURTLE washed ashore on the Dale beach at Walls (west Mainland). It is decomposed and has probably been there some time although the carcass is still intact. It measured 6ft 4" from nose to tail. It was 7ft across the flippers. There were 7 ribs along its back, and the longest one measured 51" and was 39" across all 7. Approximately 4-5cwt.
