Chaffinch at Mossbank - George Graham
An adult Glaucous Gull and a female Chaffinch are at Mossbank and an Iceland Gull is near Muness, Unst.

White-billed Diver in Bluemull Sound - Brydon Thomason; Blackbird at Mossbank - George Graham
A White-billed Diver is still in Bluemull Sound. The female Velvet Scoter is still off Huney, near Baltasound. A Carrion Crow and four Jackdaws are on Fetlar, although there was no sign today of the female Lesser Scaup.
The drake King Eider is still in Mousa Sound and a Little Auk is at Grutness. There are three first-winter Iceland Gulls at the Catch in Lerwick and 120 Jackdaws roosted at Virkie. The Glaucous Gull seen between Foulawick and Olna on 27th January was taken into care but died today.
A first-winter Glaucous Gull is at Uphouse, Bressay.

Merlin at Long Kames - George Graham
The adult White-billed Diver is still off Kirkabister. A Kumlien's Gull and a Goldfinch are at Brae. The two Velvet Scoters and three Common Scoters are still at Catfirth. There are two first-winter Iceland Gulls and a first-winter Glaucous Gull at the Catch in Lerwick, and another first-winter Iceland Gull is off Victoria Pier, along with a Common Scoter. Two first-winter Iceland Gulls are at Scalloway. The pale-bellied Brent Goose is still at Spiggie and the redhead Smew is still at Hillwell. A Peregrine is at Rova Head.
On Unst, a Goosander and 10 Whooper Swans are at Easter Loch, Uyeasound. A first-winter Iceland Gull at Hamnavoe, Yell has been present since 26th January.
A Little Grebe is in West Voe, Out Skerries.

The drake American Wigeon is still at Loch of Vatsetter, Maywick. A Little Auk is at Grutness, the pale-bellied Brent Goose is still at Spiggie and the redhead Smew is still at Hillwell, along with a Little Grebe. A Black-tailed Godwit, a Bar-tailed Godwit and 170 Jackdaws are at Virkie and a Pink-footed Goose is at Fleck. There are two first-winter Iceland Gulls at the Catch in Lerwick.
A first-winter male Scaup is at Papil Water, Fetlar.

Iceland Gulls, Glaucous Gull and Eider at Lerwick - Russ Hayward; Glaucous Gull near Brae - Louise Ratter
A first-winter Kumlien's Gull, three first-winter Iceland Gulls and two first-winter Glaucous Gulls are at the Catch in Lerwick. Two second-winter Glaucous Gulls and a first-winter and second-winter Iceland Gull are at Scalloway. A first-winter Iceland Gull and a first-winter Glaucous Gull are at Loch of Tingwall and a first-winter Glaucous Gull is between Foulawick and Olna (near Brae). The drake King Eider is still in Mousa Sound. The two Velvet Scoters and three Common Scoters are still at Catfirth and a Little Auk is off Kirkabister. Eight Jackdaws are at Gremista and 18 are at Gott.

On Unst, a first-winter Iceland Gull is at Westing and an adult Glaucous Gull is at Lamba Ness.
A Water Rail is at Virkie and a Goosander is at Tresta Voe.
Friday 25th January 2008
The two Velvet Scoters and three Common Scoters are still at Catfirth. A second-winter Iceland Gull is at Scalloway and a first-winter Iceland Gull is at the Catch in Lerwick. There are 12 Jackdaws at Gott and six at Gremista. A juvenile Peregrine is at Sumburgh Head.
On Unst, a first-winter Glaucous Gull is at Haroldswick .

The adult White-billed Diver is still off Kirkabister. The 2 Velvet Scoters and 7 Slavonian Grebes are still at Catfirth and two Common Scoters, 10 Great Northern Divers and 5 Red-throated Divers are at Duri Voe. There are 11 Purple Sandpipers, 91 Ringed Plovers, 78 Wigeon, 88 Teal and 16 Twite at Melby.
The drake King Eider is still in Mousa Sound. An Iceland Gull visited a garden at the Sletts in Lerwick briefly this morning, two first-winter Iceland Gulls are at the Catch, an adult Iceland Gull is at Gremista and another first-winter Iceland Gull is at Scalloway, along with 35 Jackdaws. Six Jackdaws are at Gremista. The pale-bellied Brent Goose, a Barnacle Goose, a Shelduck, a Red-throated Diver, a Slavonian Grebe and two Little Grebes are at Spiggie and two Pintails and a Pochard are at Loch of Brow. The redhead Smew and 2 Little Grebes are at Loch of Hillwell and a Black-tailed Godwit, two Bar-tailed Godwits and 110 Jackdaws are at Virkie.

The two Velvet Scoters and three Common Scoters are still at Catfirth. A Hen Harrier is at Channerwick, a Song Thrush and a Merlin are at Maywick, 100 Jackdaws, a Black-tailed Godwit and two Shelducks are at Virkie and a Shelduck is at Boddam. A Goosander is at Weisdale Voe, 32 Jackdaws and a Greenfinch are at Scalloway and 47 Grey Herons roosted on cliffs on the north side of Wadbister Voe. A Robin is at the Sletts in Lerwick.
On Unst, an adult Glaucous Gull flew past Burrafirth and 10 Scaup are at Loch of Cliff.

Velvet Scoters at Catfirth - Brydon Thomason
There are two Velvet Scoters, three Common Scoters, seven Slavonian Grebes, two Great Northern Divers and a Peregrine at Catfirth. A first-winter Glaucous Gull is at Brettabister, Nesting and 20 Jackdaws are at Kergord. 52 Kittiwakes off Wester Quarff is an unusually large number there.

The pale-bellied Brent Goose is still at Spiggie. A first-winter and an adult Iceland Gull and a first-winter Glaucous Gull are in Lerwick and a second-winter Iceland Gull is at Scalloway. 100 Jackdaws roosted at Virkie and a female Peregrine is at Scatness. Two Woodcocks are at Catfirth.
A ringtail Hen Harrier is at Mid Yell and 2 Bar-tailed Godwits are at Maryfield, Bressay.
A Pink-footed Goose is at Baltasound and a Glaucous Gull and a Goosander are at Uyeasound.

American Wigeon near Ireland, pale-bellied Brent Goose at Spiggie, Black-tailed Godwit at Virkie, Redwing, Fieldfare, Golden Plover, Greylag Goose, Lapwing, Redshank, Teal and Rock Dove in south mainland - Hugh Harrop
The drake American Wigeon was near Ireland this morning. The pale-bellied Brent Goose is still at Spiggie and 170 Jackdaws and a Black-tailed Godwit are at Virkie. There are 11 Snow Buntings at Lunga Water and 98 Wigeon and 6 Redwings at Sandness. A female Chaffinch is at the Sletts, Lerwick.
On Unst, a Short-eared Owl is at Sotland, Burrafirth.

A ringtail Hen Harrier is between Clumlie and Mossy Hill. In Lerwick, two Iceland Gulls and a Glaucous Gull (all first-winters) are at the Catch and two Greenfinches are at Upper Sound.

The drake King Eider is still in Mousa Sound. A pale-bellied Brent Goose is at Spiggie, the drake Gadwall is still at Scatness, 27 Jackdaws are at Scalloway and 20 Snow Buntings are at Twatt.
Two Glaucous Gulls flew past Burrafirth.

A freshly dead Red Grouse was found in Lerwick near the roundabout at South Lochside, a most bizarre place for one to be.

On Unst, an adult White-billed Diver is off Uyeasound, a female Goosander is at Dam Loch and 6 Scaup are at Loch of Cliff.
The adult White-billed Diver is again at Kirkabister. The drake King Eider is still in Mousa Sound and one drake Ring-necked Duck is still at Loch of Tingwall, with a female Goosander nearby at Loch of Asta. A first-winter Glaucous Gull, a first-winter and a second-winter Iceland Gull and 35 Jackdaws are at Scalloway, 11 Knot are on Trondra, 12 Knot are at Laxfirth, 9 Jackdaws are at Strand and two Jackdaws are at Kergord. Three female Common Scoters are still at Catfirth. There are three Goosanders, 35 Red-breasted Mergansers, 98 Wigeon and a Bar-tailed Godwit at Sandgarth, Voe.
The redhead Smew and a male Gadwall are at Scatness, and what is presumably the same Smew was at Hillwell in the morning, along with 2 Little Grebes. A Jack Snipe and a Song Thrush are at Quendale and 2 Little Grebes are at Spiggie.
A first-winter Glaucous Gull and a first-winter Iceland Gull are at the Catch in Lerwick and three Greenfinches are at the Sletts.
Friday 11th January 2008
The King Eider was reported in Mousa Sound again. A Greenfinch is at Sandwick, three Greenfinches are at the Sletts, Lerwick and there are 100 Wigeon, 30 Rock Doves, a Robin and a Water Rail at Sandgarth, Voe.
A female Goosander and 6 Scaup are at Loch of Cliff, Unst, and 9 Grey Herons are roosting on North Hill, West Isle, Out Skerries.

A Bittern was north of Channerwick from 12:40 to 12:50 before flying off west and a Hen Harrier is also there. The two drake Ring-necked Ducks and a female Goosander are at Loch of Tingwall. The Great Tit and 3 Wood Pigeons are at Helendale, Lerwick and a first-winter Glaucous Gull and two first-winter Iceland Gulls are at the Catch. Three female Common Scoters are at Catfirth.
On Unst, a Short-eared Owl is at Burrafirth and three Jackdaws are at Baltasound
A Water Rail is on Out Skerries.

Two White-billed Divers are in Bluemull Sound, off Sound Gruney, and 14 Great Northern Divers and three Red-throated Divers are also in Bluemull Sound. The female Lesser Scaup is still on Papil Water, Fetlar, and a Little Auk, a Razorbill and a first-winter Glaucous Gull are on the island. A first-winter Iceland Gull is at Hamnavoe, Yell. On Unst, a Carrion Crow is at Baltasound, along with a Red-throated Diver, three Slavonian Grebes and 11 Dunlins.
The two drake Ring-necked Ducks are still at Loch of Tingwall. Two female Velvet Scoters and 30 Slavonian Grebes are at Tresta Voe, 3 Common Scoters are at Catfirth, a pair of Pintail are at Parkhall, Bixter and 76 Purple Sandpipers and a female Pintail are at Melby.

A third-winter Iceland Gull and 9 Jackdaws are at Scalloway. The redhead Smew, a Little Grebe and a Black-tailed Godwit are at Hillwell, a Bar-tailed Godwit is at Virkie and 10 Rooks are at Wester Quarff.
A Carrion Crow, 2 Merlins, 32 Siskins and 4 Jackdaws are on Fetlar.
A Jack Snipe, 17 Common Snipe, 3 Lapwings, a Dunlin and a Teal are on Out Skerries.
