The Green-winged Teal
is still at Scatness, along with the Mallard x Pintail hybrid, 2
Gadwalls and 2 Chiffchaffs. THere are 36 Knots at South Ness,
Lerwick.
On Whalsay, a ringtail Hen
Harrier flew north through Skaw and a Grey Wagtail was at Hamister.
A Chiffchaff is on Fetlar. A Brambling
is at Baltasound and a Chiffchaff is at Norwick.

The
Ring-necked Duck
on Loch of Clickimin is presumably the bird that is usually at Tingwall.
A Chiffchaff and a Goldcrest are at
Scatness. A Chiffchaff is at Voe. There are 10 Wood Pigeons at
Kergord, a Goldcrest at Upper Kergord and 10 Fieldfares at
Skellister, Nesting.
A Jackdaw is at Baltasound
and 9 Wood Pigeons are at Norwick. An immature Glaucous Gull is at
Gutcher.

There are 456 Greylag Geese
at Bixter and 10 Fieldfares at Dale of Walls.
A Goldcrest, a Redwing, 4
Fieldfares, a Robin and 3 Chaffinches are at Wester Quarff.
There are 3 Goldcrests at Scatness.

Merlin at Fladdabister - George
Petrie
A Black Redstart, 2
Chiffchaffs, 2 Goldcrests, a Jack Snipe, a
Reed Bunting, 3 Chaffinches, 2 Robins and a Rook
are on Out Skerries.
A Goldcrest and a Wood Pigeon
are at Ocraquoy with a Merlin at Fladdabister. There are 2
Goldcrests at Scatness.
A Chiffchaff is at Burrafirth
and an Iceland Gull is at Skaw, Unst.

The White-billed Diver
is still off Whalsay, off Suther Ness near the Houb. There are 116 Purple
Sandpipers at the Houb.
Common Snipe was heard drumming at
Sandgarth, Voe.

Iceland Gull at Baltasound - Wendy Dickson
A Brunnich's Guillemot was
found dead on the beached bird survey on Scousburgh beach, the second found on
BBS in successive years. A few migrants in the Ness included 4 Goldcrests,
a Woodcock and a Dunnock at Geosetter, 5 Goldcrests, 4
Robins, a Song Thrush, a Reed Bunting and a Pied Wagtail
at Sumburgh and a Barnacle Goose at Brow.
A female Great Tit is on Foula.
An Iceland Gull is at Baltasound and there
are 52 Purple Sandpipers at Westing.
A Moorhen is at Sandgarth, Voe, where a
Merlin was watched taking a Common Snipe. A Goldcrest is at
Melby. A Meadow Pipit was in song at Burra.
A Black-throated Diver
is still off Melby, and a Water Rail and a Moorhen are at Loch of
Elvister at Walls.

Ringed Plover at Burrafirth - Wendy Dickson
A female Stonechat and a Pied Wagtail
are at Burrafirth, a
Song Thrush and 7 Wood Pigeons are at Norwick, there are 7 Wood
Pigeons, 7 Grey Herons, the 5 Barnacle Geese and a
Sparrowhawk at Baltasound, and 17 Great Northern Divers are off
Easting, Unst.
The Green-winged Teal is
still at Scatness, the Smew, a female Shoveler and the Little
Gull are still at Loch of Hillwell, a Scaup is on Loch of Brow
and a first-winter Iceland Gull is at Spiggie.

'Kumlien's', Iceland and Gluacous Gull at
Lerwick - Russ Haywood
The White-billed Diver
is still at Symbister, Whalsay, with a male King Eider
and. a first-winter Iceland Gull and a first-winter Glaucous Gull also there.
Another White-billed
Diver is around the salmon cages at Laxo.
There are 9
Iceland Gulls and a Glaucous Gull at Scalloway. Another Iceland
Gull is on Burra, 2 are at Wester Quarff and there 4 (including the
'Kumlien's Gull') at the Catch in Lerwick.
The
Ring-necked Duck
is still on Loch of Tingwall along with 2 Coots and 2 Red-throated
Divers, the first back on freshwater along with 2 on Loch of Clickimin.
There are 3 Goosanders at Strand Loch. In Whiteness Voe there are 33
Red-breasted Mergansers and 5 Slavonian Grebes.
A migrant Wren and a Dunnock are on
Out Skerries.

Glaucous Gull at Lerwick - Russ Haywood
There are 2 first-winter Iceland Gulls
and 2 first-winter Glaucous Gulls at the Shetland Catch in Lerwick, and 5
first-winter Iceland Gulls at Wester Quarff. A Woodcock is on
Scrae Field, Quarff, and 13 Long-tailed Ducks at Sandwick.
A different Siskin is on Trondra,
along with a Water Rail, 4 first-winter Glaucous Gulls and 2
Iceland Gulls.
Monday 12th March 2007
The 2 Greater Canada Geese are still
at Sandwick, with a Water Rail also there. There are 3 first-winter Iceland Gulls at Wester Quarff.
A Siskin is on Trondra.
There are still 50 Chaffinches at
Bixter. A male Peregrine Falcon is at Sullom Voe Terminal.

Gulls at Shetland Catch in Lerwick include
the Iceland Gull with characters of Kumlien's Gull. There are also
another 5 Iceland Gulls and 2 Glaucous Gulls.
A Wood Pigeon is at Tingwall with 2
Coots on the loch there.
The Greater Canada Goose is still at
Haroldswick on Unst. There are adult and third-winter Iceland Gulls and a
first-winter Glaucous Gull at Uyeasound.

putative Caspian Gull, Glaucous Gull and Iceland Gulls at
Lerwick - Russ Haywood
A putative Caspian Gull was seen at
Lerwick. It will be looked for again tomorrow.
There are 3 first-winter Iceland
Gulls at Scalloway, another at Bridge End, Burra, another at Loch of Asta,
and 4 first-winters (including the bird showing characters of Kumlien's) and a
third-winter at the Shetland Catch in Lerwick. A first-winter Glaucous Gull
is at Scalloway and 2 first-winters are at the Catch.
A first-winter Iceland Gull is
Baltasound and at least 522 Greylag Geese are on Unst. A third-winter
Iceland Gull is at Burrafirth.

A Dunnock is at the Sletts, Lerwick.
A Glaucous Gull and 3 Iceland Gulls are at Shetland Catch in
Lerwick with 4 Iceland Gulls at Scalloway.
A ringtail Hen Harrier was near
Grasswater in west Mainland.

There were 2 Greater Canada Geese at
Sandwick before they both flew off south.

A Wood Pigeon is at Ocraquoy.
A first-winter Iceland Gull is at
Haroldswick, with the
first-winter Glaucous
Gull at Burrafirth and an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull at
Baltasound.
Another Glaucous Gull is at Burravoe,
Yell.

A first-winter
Lesser Black-backed Gull
at Wester Quarff is very unusual as this age does not usually return for several
weeks after the first adult. An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull is at
Burrafirth, along with a first-winter Glaucous Gull.
Sunday 4th March 2007
A Mistle Thrush is at Ocraquoy.
There are 80 Chaffinches and 7
Fieldfares at Bixter and 2 Coots on Loch of Tingwall. An adult male
Hen Harrier is at Loch of Brunatwatt, Walls.
A Jackdaw has been on Out Skerries
for over a week.

The adult Spoonbill
is still at Brae.
A
first-winter Iceland Gull showing characters of Kumlien's Gull is at
Shetland Catch in Lerwick.
There are 3 first-winter Iceland
Gulls at Scalloway and another at Asta, along with an adult Lesser
Black-backed Gull, the first of the year. The male
Ring-necked Duck is
still on Loch of Tingwall.

Spoonbill at Brae -
Mike Pennington
The adult Spoonbill
is still at Brae, either on the small marsh below the Mid
Brae Inn or feeding on the houb at Burravoe, to the south of Brae.
An adult Puffin is in Yell Sound, just
south of Bigga. A Woodcock and a Shelduck are at Skaw, Unst.
The released Rough-legged Buzzard of the
North American race was watched eating a Woodcock in a garden at
Cunningsburgh. The Velvet Scoter is still in West Voe of Sumburgh. A
Skylark in full song at Spiggie is the first reported this year.

The adult Spoonbill
is still at Brae, on Busta Voe below the Mid
Brae Inn.
There are 5 first-winter Iceland Gulls and a first-winter Glaucous Gull
at Scalloway.
The released Rough-legged Buzzard of the
North American race was at Sandwick. A Woodcock is at Channerwick and 2
Peregrine Falcons are at Bixter.
