Minke Whales were seen off Fetlar off Hamars Ness and Aith during
the day and there were 2 in Wick of Houbie, along with 15 Harbour Porpoises,
in the evening. A pod of about 10
Harbour Porpoises were watched feeding in West Burrafirth voe, with
an Otter fishing close inshore at the same time.
A timed activity watch by Kevin Hepworth of Sea watch Foundation at
Fethaland produced 53 Harbour Porpoises, 3 White-baked Dolphins
and 2 White-sided Dolphins between 11:00 and 14:00.

A pod of up to 7 Killer Whales was seen off Cullivoe, Yell and presumably the same group was watched heading north through Yell Sound past Mossbank at 19:00. A large Basking Shark was in Bluemull Sound, off Papil and Cullivoe. A Minke Whale was seen heading north-east between Burravoe and Lunna Holm at 19:00.

On a trip on the MV Julie Rose from Flugga to Brae, the following were seen: a Minke Whale off Eshaness, 4 Harbour Porpoises off Muckle Rose, 8 White-sided Dolphins and 10 Harbour Porpoises between Holm o Gloup (Yell) and Woodwick (Unst) and 6 Harbour Porpoises at Burrafirth.

A pod of 7 Killer Whales was at Sumburgh in early
afternoon.
A pod of 6-7 Killer Whales went south through Noss
Sound at 22.05. The pod consisted of one large bull, one smaller bull, two,
possibly three females and a smaller young animal which always surfaced
alongside one of the females.
About 100 White-sided Dolphins and 2 Minke Whales
were seen off Eshaness.

A Minke Whale was seen from the Aberdeen ferry between
Fair Isle and Sumburgh. About 200 White-sided Dolphins were seen from a
creel boat between Ramna Stacks and Whalefirth at the north end of Yell Sound.

A pod of Killer Whales were seen off Noss today: first
sighted at 13.15 the group moved anticlockwise round the island hunting for
seals around the voes and geos, last seen at the Noup at 13.50 before heading
north. The group consisted of one bull with a very large fin and at least 4
females/youngsters. The bull had distinctive scarring on the left side of it's
fin, looking like a number of parallel scratches.

An injured and emaciated Minke Whale is off Blacksness Pier, Scalloway. It appears to have some kind of strap lodged behind its head and looks unlikely to survive very long.
Another Minke Whale was seen off Kettla Ness, Burra.
Six White-beaked Dolphins were seen following the MV Julie Rose on the way to Out Skerries.

Urafirth, which were later seen off Stenness, Eshaness.
Four White-beaked Dolphins were seen following the MV Julie Rose midway between Sumburgh and Fair Isle.
A small group of White-sided Dolphins has been seen for the last four
days by a salmon farmer in outer Weisdale Voe.

with a calf was seen NW of Fair Isle, while 10 White-beaked Dolphins,

A juvenile Striped
Dolphin
at Uyeasound was found swimming around close inshore before it came ashore and died after a couple of hours.
After it beached it could be seen to be injured, while as an an unaccompanied
juvenile, it's identity provoked some head-scratching.
It a warm-water species and this is only the 8th record for
Shetland following singles in July 1993, January 1995, March 1998, two in April
1999, one in November 1999 and another in December 2002; all have been found
stranded and only the 1993 and 1998 individuals were also seen alive.
