The Blyth's Reed Warbler,

Short-toed Lark and the
Marsh Warbler are still on Foula along with a Yellow-browed Warbler,
a Corncrake, 4 Lapland Buntings and 50 Snow Buntings.
The adult
American Golden Plover is still at Mailland on the south road out of
Baltasound, a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Pink-footed Goose is at
Baltasound, 6 NW Common Redpolls are at Norwick, 4 Snow Buntings
are at Lamba Ness and a family of 4 Whooper Swans and 3 Pink-footed
Geese are at Uyeasound.
The
Kingfisher has reappeared again, this time at Sandwick. A
Yellow-browed Warbler is also at Sandwick. A Barred Warbler and a
Yellow-browed Warbler are at Quendale and the Common Rosefinch is
still at Scousburgh. A Yellow-browed Warbler and a Water Rail are
at Ollaberry.
A Great Spotted Woodpecker is still on Out
Skerries along with 16 Snow Buntings and a Lapland Bunting.
A Barred Warbler and a Short-eared Owl
are on Whalsay.
There is a Pied Flycatcher, 2
Goldcrests and a flock of 31 Ravens in south Yell.

On Foula, the Blyth's
Reed Warbler and the Short-toed Lark
are still present and a juvenile Ring-necked Duck
is also there.
A possible Little or Baillon's Crake was reported
at Hoswick in the morning but not later. A Barred Warbler is in the
Quendale dunes, a Common Rosefinch is at Scousburgh and a
Yellow-browed Warbler is at Hoswick. A Water Rail is at
Cunningsburgh. A Yellow-browed Warbler is at 97
North Road, Lerwick, and another is in Scalloway. A Barred Warbler is still at Twatt. A Barred
Warbler and 2 Yellow-browed Warblers are at Kergord. There are 3
Yellow-browed Warblers at Lower Voe along with 2 Greenland Common
Redpolls and 4 Pied Flycatchers, while another Yellow-browed
Warbler is at Laxo.
An adult
American Golden Plover is at Mailland on the south road out of
Baltasound.
A Common Rosefinch is at Brough on
Whalsay.
A Long-eared Owl, a Short-eared Owl,
a House Martin and a Yellow-browed Warbler are on Fetlar.

On Unst, a

the long-staying Osprey was at Baltasound and Burrafirth, a Common
Rosefinch is at Norwick, and a Yellow-browed Warbler and a
Red-backed Shrike are at Baltasound.
There are 2 Common Rosefinches and a
Yellow-browed Warbler at Lunna. 20 Chaffinches are at East
Burrafirth.

A Western Bonelli's
Warbler is at Lunna, in the small plantation near the kirk, with
a Common Rosefinch and a Yellow-browed Warbler also there. An
Osprey is at Sand Water and a Barred Warbler and a Yellow-browed
Warbler are at Kergord. There are also 2 Yellow-browed Warblers at
Eswick and 2 at Vidlin. An
American Golden Plover is still at Dalsetter, Boddam. There are 2
Yellow-browed Warblers at Hoswick. A flock of 120 Pink-footed Geese
flew over Virkie.
A probable
Blyth's Reed Warbler is on Out Skerries with the
Arctic Warbler also still there, a Common Rosefinch
on the island and 3 Pomarine Skuas seen from the ferry.
A
Hobby is on Foula and the
Marsh Warbler is still there.
There are 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, a
Short-eared Owl and 6 NW Common Redpolls on Fetlar.
There are 2 Yellow-browed Warblers at
Baltasound.
Friday 26th September 2008

On Foula, the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler
was seen briefly at Harrier, Foula, and an
American Golden Plover was seen, although it could not be relocated
later.
An Arctic Warbler
is on Out Skerries along with 2 Common
Rosefinches, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers and a Barred Warbler.
A Wryneck and 3 Yellow-browed Warblers
are at Quendale. A Yellow-browed Warbler and a Grey Wagtail are at
Hoswick. A Barred Warbler is at Twatt, along with 1000 Greylag Geese
there, while 500 Eiders are in Whiteness Voe. A Water Rail and
a Common Crossbill are at Sandgarth, Voe.
There are 3 Yellow-browed Warblers and 6
NW Common Redpolls on Fetlar.
On Unst, a Red-backed Shrike is on
Baltasound, a Yellow-browed Warbler is at Northdale and 2 skeins
totalling about 100 Pink-footed Geese flew south.

A Thick-billed
Warbler was seen briefly on Out Skerries - the 5th for Shetland and for
Britain - but it has not been seen since mid-day. There are 2 Common
Rosefinches and 6 Yellow-browed Warblers on the islands. At least one
American Golden Plovers is still at Dalsetter, Boddam.
A Sykes's Warbler
is at Sumburgh Farm. What is presumably the same Kingfisher
has been relocated at Hoswick. A Barred Warbler is at Boddam.

is still at Harrier, Foula, along with a
Red-flanked Bluetail, the Blyth's
Reed Warbler is still at Ham, while a Marsh
Warbler, a Barred Warbler, a Bluethroat and at least 2
Yellow-browed Warblers are on the island.
A Barred Warbler, a Red-backed Shrike,
a Yellow-browed Warbler and the Osprey are in south Unst, while a
Yellow-browed Warbler is at Norwick.

are Yellow-browed Warblers at Wester Quarff, Cunningsburgh and Grutness. A Barred Warbler is at Twatt and a
Black-tailed Godwit is at Melby.
A Common Rosefinch, a NW Common Redpoll
and 4 Yellow-browed Warblers are on Out Skerries.
A Corncrake is at Haroldswick and about 10
Yellow-browed Warblers are on Unst.
A Grey Plover and 8 Bar-tailed Godwits
are at Hamnavoe, Yell.

An Eastern Olivaceous Warbler is at Harrier, Foula. Also on the island there is a Marsh Warbler, a Barred Warbler, a Yellow-browed Warbler, a Black Redstart, a Water Rail, 3 Reed Warblers, a Swift, a Slavonian Grebe and 120 Pink-footed Geese.
On Unst, a Nightjar was seen on the road outside Baltasound Leisure Centre at 20:20.
A Yellow-browed Warbler and a Wryneck are at Quendale. A Yellow-browed Warbler is at Grutness and a Turtle Dove is at Sumburgh Farm. A Yellow-browed Warbler is at Levenwick. A Little Stint is at Virkie. Pink-footed Geese today included 1200 over Quarff, 300 over Virkie and 60 over Levenwick. A Little Stint is at Melby. 30 Knot are at The Sletts, Lerwick.
2 Yellow-browed Warblers, a north-western Common Redpoll and 50 Pink-footed Geese are on Out Skerries.

A Thrush Nightingale is at Virkie, in the burn running north from the Eastshore road (same place as the Paddyfield Warbler, which doesn't seem to be present today). A Barred Warbler and a Yellow-browed Warbler are also there. A north-western Common Redpoll is at Sumburgh Hotel and a Little Stint is at Grutness. A Red-backed Shrike is at Channerwick and a Barred Warbler is at Scousburgh. A Common Buzzard and a Peregrine are at Sandwick. A Common Crossbill and a Yellow-browed Warbler are at Cunningsburgh.
A flava wagtail at Sandvoe, Northmavine shows some characteristics of Black-headed Wagtail. A Red-breasted Flycatcher, 2 Pied Flycatchers, a Willow Warbler, 2 Robins, a Blackcap, a Redwing and 6 Siskins are at Sandgarth, Voe. The Osprey is still at Sand Water. 2 Pied Flycatchers, 4 Song Thrushes and 5 Chaffinches are at Kergord. A Yellow-browed Warbler is at Quarff and 2 Yellow-browed Warblers are at Busta House, Brae.
A Pectoral Sandpiper is at Hametoun, Foula. Also on the island are 2 north-western Common Redpolls, a Hen Harrier, a Lapland Bunting, a Lesser Whitethroat and 6 Redstarts, and 64 Pink-footed Geese flew over.
On Whalsay, 3 Common Cranes are at Vatshoull.
On Yell, a Red-backed Shrike is at Otterswick, a Blackcap and a Whinchat are at Cullivoe and 2 Whinchats and a Kestrel are at Gloup.
On Unst, the Osprey was reported at Loch of Cliff, a Yellow-browed Warbler, 2 Common Redpolls and a Kestrel are at Northdale and 2 Whinchats are at Haroldswick.
A Yellow Wagtail, a Lapland Bunting, a Common Redpoll and 3 Reed Warblers are on Out Skerries.

The Paddyfield Warbler is still at Virkie, along with a Barred Warbler, 2 Little Stints, a Reed Warbler, a Redstart, 27 Ruff and a north-western Common Redpoll. The Red-backed Shrike, a Barred Warbler and a Siskin are still at Exnaboe and a Red-backed Shrike is near Quendale. A Little Stint is at Grutness and a Marsh Harrier, 6 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Ruff are at Hillwell. A Little Stint and 3 Kestrels are at Scatness. The Rose-coloured Starling is still at The Wart, Sandwick and a Red-backed Shrike is at Cunningsburgh. 2 Common Crossbills are at Catfirth. Yellow-browed Warblers today included singles at Vidlin, Scatness, Hoswick, Catfirth and Seafield, Lerwick, with two at Fladdabister. A Common Rosefinch is at Brough, South Nesting, a Red-backed Shrike is at Eswick, a Barred Warbler is at Vidlin, an Osprey, a Tree Pipit and a Reed Warbler are at Kergord and a Fieldfare is at Laxo. A Whinchat and a Peregrine are at Twatt. A Barred Warbler is at Ollaberry. A Yellow-browed Warbler, a Fieldfare, a Peregrine, a Sparrowhawk, 2 Common Crossbills and a Stonechat are at Quarff. A Curlew Sandpiper and a Little Stint are at Papil Water, Burra.
On Fetlar there are 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, a Red-backed Shrike, a Common Rosefinch and a Long-eared Owl.
On Foula there is a Barred Warbler, 2 Lapland Buntings, 11 north-western Common Redpolls, a Short-eared Owl, 3 Reed Warblers, a Common Crossbill, 3 Spotted Flycatchers, a Pintail and 6 Redstarts.
On Unst, an Osprey and a Barred Warbler are at Baltasound, a Common Rosefinch, a Kestrel, a Blackcap, a Redstart and a Whinchat are at Skaw and a redpoll sp, a Redstart, a Pied Flycatcher and 2 Whinchats are at Northdale.
10 Yellow-browed Warblers are on Out Skerries.
4 Yellow-browed Warblers and a Wood Warbler are on Whalsay.
On Yell, 2 Robins and a Blackcap are at Cullivoe, 3 Whinchats, a Redstart and a Blackcap are at Gloup and a Pied Flycatcher, a Spotted Flycatcher, 3 Blackcaps, a Whinchat, a Robin and a Willow Warbler are at Burravoe.

The Red-backed Shrike and Barred Warbler are still at Exnaboe. An Osprey is at Sand Water. A Turtle Dove and a Peregrine are on Trondra. A Storm Petrel was seen during the night at Sullom Voe. 2 Little Stints are at Melby.
The Short-toed Lark and a Kestrel are still at Skaw, Whalsay.
20 north-western Common Redpolls, a Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Grasshopper Warbler are on Foula.
On Yell, a Yellow-browed Warbler is at Cullivoe and 5 Whinchats, a Redstart and a Blackcap are at Gloup.
On Unst, an Osprey is between Watlee and Uyeasound, a Grey Wagtail is at Skaw and a flava wagtail is at Baltasound.

The Arctic Warbler is still at Exnaboe, along with a Red-backed Shrike and a Barred Warbler. A Bluethroat, a Yellow-browed Warbler, a Wood Warbler and a Reed Warbler are at Hoswick, a Red-backed Shrike is at Leebitton and a Siskin and 4 Ruff are at Sandwick. 2 Ospreys are at Sand Water and a Yellow-browed Warbler is at Busta House, Brae. A Little Stint is at Papil Water, Burra and 10 Pink-footed Geese flew south there. 11 Pink-footed Geese flew south at Wester Quarff. 2 Grasshopper Warblers are at Sumburgh Hotel. A Turtle Dove is on Trondra.
A Red-throated Pipit is on Foula.
The Short-toed Lark is still at Skaw, Whalsay.
On Yell, a Red-backed Shrike, a Barred Warbler and a Yellow-browed Warbler are at Otterswick and there are 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 4 Willow Warblers, 10 Robins, 2 Whinchats, 8 Blackcaps, 5 Pied Flycatchers, 5 Spotted Flycatchers, 6 Chaffinches, a Song Thrush, a Garden Warbler and a Whitethroat in the south of the island.

The Arctic Warbler is still at Exnaboe and a Red-backed Shrike is there. The Rose-coloured Starling is still at The Wart, Sandwick. A Brent Goose, 15 Black-tailed Godwits and 8 Bar-tailed Godwits are at Virkie. A Kestrel is at Cunningsburgh and another is at Scousburgh.
The Short-toed Lark is still at Skaw, Whalsay, along with 9 Chaffinches and a Brambling.
On Unst, A Yellow-browed Warbler and 2 Grey Wagtails are at Baltasound, a Whinchat, a Pied Flycatcher and a Chaffinch ae at Muness and a Robin and a Whinchat are at Northdale.
A Tree Pipit, a Wood Warbler, a Redstart, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, a Pied Flycatcher, a Chiffchaff, a Whitethroat and 4 Robins are in south Yell. 4 Chaffinches are at Cullivoe and 2 Whinchats, 2 Redstarts, 2 Blackcaps and a Robin are at Gloup.

On Unst, a Rustic Bunting is at Haroldswick, 3 Common Swifts and 55 Chaffinches are at Norwick and a Carrion Crow and a Reed Warbler are at Baltasound.
On Whalsay, a Citrine Wagtail is at Vatshoull, along with 2 Grey Plovers. The Short-toed Lark, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Little Stint and a Kestrel are at Skaw, a Red-backed Shrike is at Brough, another Red-backed Shrike is at Sandwick and a flava wagtail is at Symbister.
An Ortolan Bunting was at Virkie briefly. The Little Bunting is still in the Hoswick/Swinister area, along with a Yellow-browed Warbler, a Barred Warbler and a Green Sandpiper. The Rose-coloured Starling is still at The Wart, Sandwick, and there is a Red-backed Shrike, a Barred Warbler, 4 Ruff and 2 Yellow Wagtails at Sandwick. There are 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, a Bluethroat, a Wryneck, 30 Redstarts, 22 Pied Flycatchers, 15 Spotted Flycatchers, 8 Tree Pipits, 50 Chaffinches, a Wood Warbler, a Sparrowhawk and a Kestrel at Quarff, and an Osprey flew south there. A Red-breasted Flycatcher is at Gulberwick and an Osprey is at Sand Water. A Yellow-browed Warbler is on Trondra. A Little Stint is at Grutness, a Little Stint is at Scatness and a Cuckoo and a Kestrel are at Sumburgh Hotel.
A Dunnock and a Kestrel are at Gloup, Yell.

On Unst, a Goshawk and a Red-backed Shrike are at Stove, a Red-backed Shrike, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Swift are at Baltasound and 3 Sand Martins and a Swift are at Norwick.
A Bluethroat, a Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Grasshopper Warbler are at Quarff. An Osprey is at Stromfirth. 2 Common Rosefinches are still at Swinister and 2 Barred Warblers are at Sandwick. 4 Brent Geese, 2 Tree Pipits, a Kestrel and a Yellow Wagtail are at Scatness, a Sedge Warbler and a Grey Plover are at Virkie and a Curlew Sandpiper is at Grutness. A flava wagtail is at Seafield, Lerwick.
Redstarts, Whinchats, Garden Warblers, Willow Warblers, Spotted Flycatchers, Pied Flycatchers etc are still widespread.

A Thrush Nightingale is at Still croft, Fetlar. Also on the island, the Ortolan Bunting is still at Tresta, along with a Bluethroat and a Sedge Warbler, and there are 7 Reed Warblers, a Grasshopper Warbler, 6 Tree Pipits, 2 Dunnocks and a flava wagtail on the island.
A Little Bunting is at Hoswick and 2 Common Rosefinches are at Swinister burn. The juvenile Rose-coloured Starling was again at The Wart, Sandwick. A Yellow-browed Warbler is at Wester Quarff. There are single Red-backed Shrikes at Exnaboe , Grutness and Sandwick. A Wryneck was found dead at Sumburgh Head. A Red-breasted Flycatcher and 2 Bramblings are at Toab. 2 Kestrels, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 4 Grey Plovers, 3 Common Sandpipers and a Yellow Wagtail are at Scatness. A Sparrowhawk is at Scousburgh, a Peregrine is at Scatsta and there are Kestrels at Channerwick and Sandwick, with two at Dales Lees. A Water Rail and 3 Fieldfares are at Sandgarth, Voe.
On Unst, a Common Rosefinch is at Skaw, a Swift and 2 Little Stints are at Norwick, a Peregrine and a Brambling are at Skaw, a Common Sandpiper is at Baltasound and a Kestrel is at Lamba Ness/Burrafirth.
A Kestrel, a Little Stint, 2 Ruff, a Common Sandpiper, a Yellow Wagtail, a Dunnock, 8 Goldcrests and 2 Chaffinches are on Noss.
A Greenshank is in south Yell and a Kestrel is at Gutcher.
Redstarts, Whinchats, Garden Warblers, Willow Warblers, Spotted Flycatchers, Pied Flycatchers etc are still widespread - I can't cope with putting them all on here any more!!! Please continue to report them though as all records are added to the database.

In north Unst there were no meaningful counts as not all the same sites were counted as yesterday, but the Common Rosefinch is still at the Skaw, the Barred Warbler is still at Norwick and new birds included 12 Chaffinches, 3 Tree Pipits and a juvenile Lesser Black-backed Gull. There are also 2 Bar-tailed Godwits and a Curlew Sandpiper at Westing.
On Yell, an Osprey was reported at Ulsta. In south Yell there is a Red-backed Shrike, 9 Chaffinches, 4 Robins, a Whitethroat, a Song Thrush, 4 Spotted Flycatchers, 2 Pied Flycatchers, 9 Redstarts, 3 Garden Warblers, 13 Blackcaps, 3 Whinchats and 11 Willow Warblers. 2 Pied Flycatchers are at Mid Yell, 3 Blackcaps, a Redstart and a Whinchat are at Cullivoe and a Kestrel, a Whinchat, a Robin, a Blackcap, a Willow Warbler, a Redstart and 3 Chaffinches are at Gloup.
