There are 21 Sanderlings, 2 Knot, a Bar-tailed Godwit and a Whimbrel at Virkie.

12 Swifts are at Compass Head and 4 Knot are at Virkie.

A Sandwich Tern and a Knot are at Virkie. A Common Buzzard is near Channerwick.

A ringtail harrier was between Channerwick and Bigton this morning, and sounds like it may be worth keeping an eye out for. Presumably the same bird was seen in this area on or around June 27th, when it was thought to look "interesting"...

The Killdeer is still at Virkie, on the pool east of the Ness Boating Club. A Ruff, a Knot and 4 Sanderlings are also at Virkie.

34 Knot were at Virkie early morning. A Common Crane was reported on Fetlar.

A Baird's Sandpiper was at Virkie from about 19:00 to 20:00 when it flew off high south. The Killdeer is also still at Virkie, on the pool east of the Ness Boating Club. A Common Buzzard flew west over Lerwick at 09:20.

An Iceland Gull is at Urafirth. A Green Sandpiper and 3 Sanderlings are on Noss and a Bar-tailed Godwit, 12 Turnstones and a Common Sandpiper are at Boddam.

The Killdeer is still at Virkie, on the pool east of the Ness Boating Club, and 2 Bar-tailed Godwits and a Greenshank are also at Virkie. A Green Sandpiper flew past the Sumburgh Hotel.

The Killdeer is still at Virkie, on the pool east of the Ness Boating Club. A Knot is also at Virkie. The Glaucous Gull is still at Twatt.

A female Long-tailed Duck and a Sanderling are on Noss.

Saturday 14th July 2007

A Cuckoo flew north over Scatness and Scord at 5pm. 2 Knot, 2 Sanderlings and a Bar-tailed Godwit are at Virkie.

Glaucous Gull at Twatt - Rob Fray

The Glaucous Gull is still at Twatt. A Pied Wagtail was feeding a fledged juvenile at The Sletts, Lerwick.

The Killdeer is still at Virkie, on rocks east of the Ness Boating Club. A Whooper Swan at Scatness may have been the same bird that later flew north over Virkie, where there are also 2 Bar-tailed Godwits. A Glaucous Gull is at Twatt. A Song Thrush on Noss has been presnet since 25th June.

The Killdeer is still at Virkie, on rocks east of the Ness Boating Club. A Chiffchaff is at Scousburgh, a Garden Warbler is at Kergord and 4 Common Sandpipers are at Sandgarth, Voe. 3 Whimbrel flew south over Scatness.

A House Martin is at Hermaness.

The Killdeer is still around, this time on the pools near the Ness Boating Club at Virkie, although it still visits the small pools between here and Clevigarth. A Quail was singing near the Ness Boating Club at Virkie in the early hours of the morning.

A Hobby flew south over Vidlin.

The Killdeer is still on the pool just east of the Ness Boat Club, the Pectoral Sandpiper is on Moast beach at Scatness, a Common Redpoll is at Exnaboe, a Robin is at Sumburgh Hotel and a Sandwich Tern is at Grutness and Pool of Virkie.

A Curlew Sandpiper is at the Houb, Whalsay.

The Killdeer is still on the pool just east of the Ness Boat Club. A Pectoral Sandpiper is on Moast beach at Scatness. A Quail rescued from a cat at Virkie was released at Scatness, when it flew off strongly.

The Killdeer is still at Virkie, on the pool just east of the Ness Boat Club. An Icterine Warbler is singing at Sumburgh Hotel. Eleven Woodpigeons were at Sandgarth, Voe early this morning. A Goldfinch is on Whalsay.

Little Tern on Fetlar - Brydon Thomason; Red-necked Phalarope, Arctic Tern and Dunlin on Fetlar - Dougie Preston

A Little Tern is at Tresta beach, Fetlar. It is the 7th Shetland record, the first since 1998 and the first for Fetlar.

The Little Crake is still at Burrafirth.

A male Siskin is at Virkie.

The Killdeer is still in the Clevigarth/Virkie area. A Sandwich Tern was at Virkie briefly early afternoon, with presumably the same bird at Grutness early evening. There are also 3 Knot and 7 Sanderlings at Virkie.

The Little Crake is still at Burrafirth and a Slavonian Grebe was at Haroldswick during the morning.

The Killdeer is still in the Clevigarth/Virkie area. An Icterine Warbler is singing at Voe. A Black Redstart is at Sumburgh Head and a Marsh Warbler is singing at Scatness. A ringtail Hen Harrier is near Channerwick. A Red-backed Shrike was at Virkie in the evening.

Common Rosefinch at Sumburgh Hotel - Brenda Kay; Lesser Whitethroat at Cunningsburgh - Jim Nicolson; Ringed Plover at Mossy Hill and Turtle Dove at Hoswick - Dave Hall

The Blyth's Reed Warbler is still in the plantation at Skaw, Whalsay, along with a male Bluethroat.

The Little Crake is still at Burrafirth.

The Killdeer is still at Clevigarth. There are single Icterine Warblers at Scatness, Hoswick and Sandgarth, Voe, and single Red-backed Shrikes at Sullom Voe and Easter Quarff. A Marsh Warbler is singing at Hoswick, where there is also a Turtle Dove. A red male Common Rosefinch is at Sumburgh Hotel. A Sedge Warbler is singing at Brig of Bakkasetter and 4 Common Scoters are off Scord.

On Bressay, a female Red-backed Shrike is at Cruetoun.

Icterine Warbler at Scatness - Steve Minton; Red-backed Shrike at Dury - Dave Hall; leucistic Starling at Tingwall - Dennis Coutts

The Little Crake is still at Burrafirth. Also on Unst, an Osprey reportedly flew over Westing.

A Red-backed Shrike is at Dury, North Nesting and a probable Marsh Warbler is singing at Sandgarth, Voe. An Icterine Warbler and a Redwing are at Hoswick, another Icterine Warbler is at Scatness, a Common Redpoll is at Easter Quarff and 3 Swifts are at Wadbister.

A female Bluethroat is still on Noss and an Icterine Warbler is still at Cruetoun on Bressay.

On Whalsay there are 2 Red-backed Shrikes and a Bluethroat.

There are 2 Red-backed Shrikes at Funzie on Fetlar.

Icterine Warbler and Spotted Flycatcher at Hoswick and Willow Warbler at Noness - Dave Hall; Spotted Flycatcher at Sandgarth - Tony & Beth Gerrard

A Marsh Warbler and a Common Rosefinch are at Tresta. A Marsh Warbler and an Icterine Warbler are at Hoswick, a male Red-backed Shrike is at Spiggie, a Common Rosefinch and an Icterine Warbler are at Boddam and an Icterine Warbler is at Scatness. A Swift and 4 Knot are at Virkie and a Water Rail is at Cunningsburgh. There are very early broods of Linnets at Sumburgh Hotel and Old Scatness. Another Icterine Warbler is at Kergord.

On Fetlar there are 5 Red-backed Shrikes, a male Snow Bunting, the Stonechat and a Whinchat.

An Icterine Warbler is at Skaw, Unst.

An Icterine Warbler and a Kestrel are on Whalsay.

Red-backed Shrike at Hoswick - Dave Hall; Little Crake at Burrafirth - Mike Pennington; Marsh Warbler and Icterine Warbler at Northdale and Little Crake at Burrafirth - Dougie Preston

The Little Crake is still at Burrafirth, a Marsh Warbler and an Icterine Warbler are at Northdale and a male Red-backed Shrike and a Wood Warbler are at Norwick.

The Blyth's Reed Warbler was still in the Skaw plantation on Whalsay with the Red-backed Shrike and a Sedge Warbler. Also on the isle was a Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Common Rosefinch.

An Icterine Warbler is at Scatness, a male Red-backed Shrike and a Turtle Dove are at Hoswick and a Turtle Dove is at Sandwick.

An Icterine Warbler and a Golden Oriole are at Tresta.

The female Bluethroat is still on Noss along with a female Common Scoter. A singing Icterine Warbler at Cruetoun on Bressay and a male Siskin is in Helendale, Lerwick.

At least 4 Red-backed Shrikes are on Fetlar along with a Common Rosefinch and a Marsh Warbler.

A Blyth's Reed Warbler has been trapped and ringed at Skaw, Whalsay, with a Cuckoo, a Red-backed Shrike, a Sedge Warbler and a Black Redstart all in the same area..

The Little Crake is still at Burrafirth along with a Marsh Warbler and an Icterine Warbler with a Marsh Warbler at Norwick.

The Killdeer is still at Clevigarth. A male Red-backed Shrike is at Levenwick and a female is at Grutness. There 47 Sanderlings at Pool of Virkie. There are 40 Swallows, 3 House Martins and a Sand Martin at Hillwell and 6 Common Swifts at Spiggie and Brow.

A Red-breasted Flycatcher is at Scalloway. A Common Swift is at Asta and a Goosander is on Strand Loch.

There are 4 Red-backed Shrikes on Fetlar (including one new female), a Bluethroat, a Quail, and a female Stonechat.

The Bluethroat is still on Noss along with a Grey Wagtail and a Cuckoo.

Common Swift on Out Skerries - Peter Flint; Willow Warbler at Skaw, Unst - Mike Smith

The Little Crake is still at Burrafirth along with a Marsh Warbler and a male Lapland Bunting, with an Icterine Warbler and 2 Red-backed Shrikes at Northdale, Unst.

The Killdeer is still at Clevigarth. A Common Rosefinch is at Sumburgh Hotel and 2 Red-backed Shrikes are at Sumburgh, with the Marsh Warbler still at Scatness. Another Red-backed Shrike is at Cunningsburgh and 2 are at Levenwick.

On Out Skerries there are 2 Common Swifts, 4 House Martins, 3 Swallows, a Turtle Dove, a Wood Pigeon, an Icterine Warbler, single Garden and Willow Warblers and a Common Whitethroat, 2 Blackcaps, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, a male Pied Flycatcher, a Yellow Wagtail, a Common Redstart, a Black Redstart and the long-staying Tree Sparrow.

There are 3 Red-backed Shrikes on Fetlar along with 2 Common Swifts and a Reed Warbler.

The female Bluethroat is still on Noss along with a Whinchat, a Reed Warbler and a Tree Pipit.

Four Common Swifts flew over Houss on Burra and another was at Toft near Mossbank.

The first Redshank chicks reported are at Toft, Mossbank, and the first Curlew chicks are at Cunningsburgh.

A Blyth's Reed Warbler at Burrafirth is presumably the bird from Skaw, Unst, the Little Crake is still at Burrafirth along with a Short-eared Owl, there are 2 Marsh Warblers at Burrafirth and singles at Northdale and Baltasound, Red-backed Shrikes are at Norwick and Northdale, Icterine Warblers are at Norwick and Northdale and an Osprey flew over Norwick.

A Barred Warbler is at Scatness along with a Curlew Sandpiper, a male Common Rosefinch is at Boddam, a Golden Oriole is at Geosetter, Marsh Warblers are at Scatness and Grutness, an Icterine Warbler is at Geosetter with 2 at Boddam, and there are 2 Red-backed Shrikes at Sumburgh, 2 at Quendale, 2 at Sandwick, a female at Wester Quarff and 2 at Gulberwick.

The female Bluethroat is still on Noss along with a Marsh Warbler and an Icterine Warbler is at Gorie, Bressay.

There are 3 Common Rosefinches on Fetlar.

There are 3 Red-backed Shrikes and a female Bluethroat on Whalsay.

The first Eider ducklings reported this year were at Sandwick.
