These pages were originally known as the Shetland
Wildlife pages and were constructed by Kevin
Osborn on the Zetnet website in 1996, in the Zetnet Special Interest
Groups (SIGs) pages.
In late 1999 they moved to a new address at wildlife.shetland.co.uk on the Shetland Internet server (which
was also run
by Zetnet). They were a great success, averaging over 1000 hits per week and
peaking at almost 10,000 hits in October 2001.
In 2003, the main responsibility for the pages was
taken over by Mike Pennington and they moved to nature.shetland.co.uk
but still on the Shetland Internet server.
In 2005, there was another change as the service
provider changed hands, with the site
moving to www.nature-shetland.co.uk and hosted now by easyspace.
During 2007, Rob Fray began to share the responsibility for updating
news pages.
